As a homeowner, you may or may not have opened an insurance claim on your property. VPR staff will assist you with your insurance claims and will assist you in your efforts to work with your insurance company and get your home back to it’s original condition.
As homeowners, we are required by our mortgage companies to maintain our home’s value by taking care of the property and to have the property fixed when damage occurs. That is why we pay insurance premiums on a monthly/annual basis.
Often, we are reluctant to open an insurance claim because we believe that will drive an increase to our premiums. The fact is that opening a claims does not typically drive an increase in your insurance premiums. Insurance companies increase premiums based upon “market” impact. For example, if their is a major storm in Texas, the insurance companies will increase everyone’s premium based upon loses it experiences as a result of a regional storm. Not an individual storm claim.
We bet you have experienced increases in your premium without every opening a claim on your house. We know we have. Like it or not, we all pay premiums based upon aggregate damage in a region.
